We love the old world charm of this hotel. The fact that it has history and is lovely just makes it fun to stay here. We knew in advance to our stay that the restaurant would not be open and we’re okay with that since there is so much nearby and the price of our stay reflected this minor inconvenience compared to other hotels in the area. Our room was clean and even though we were told at check in that we would not be getting room service since we were only staying two nights, someone did knock on our door to ask if we would like our room cleaned or needed anything. Numerous parking options nearby at good rates especially with SpotHero app. We enjoyed our stay, as we always do here and will definitely stay again.

The hotel is in a side street that is more residential than commercial, which makes the area feel friendlier than a city centre hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very nice, and the service was excellent. The cocktail bar was worth a visit too. We liked the midday checkout too. About 5 minute walk from Lake Shore Drive and Lake Michigan, it easy enough to walk to Navy Park along the lakeside. Buses run from Michigan Avenue to Union Station and the transfer (bus) station where you can get a 1 or 3 day travel card for the busses which will save you heaps of money. If you are into shopping, then several designer stores are very close.

I was nervous about booking because of the mixed reviews but the price and location were perfect so I thought I'd go for it. I arrived quite late and when I checked in, the gentleman kindly upgraded me to a suite. Unfortunately the 'upgrade' was a downgrade, the room, 908 was dirty and had a terrible stale, mouldy smell that was so overpowering I eventually asked to change rooms to the normal King room I had booked. A completely different experience! Lovely, clean room with a comfy bed, no smell, clean windows and a very pleasant experience. Don't be afraid to ask to change rooms if you're given a dirty one!!!

The hotel was built in 1927, but the rooms weren’t older like some other hotels. The hotel is pet friendly and has a beautiful ballroom. There was a NYE wedding and it was beautifully decorated. Very convenient location around the corner of the water tower and many stores and restaurants. Highly recommend the Rosebud steakhouse just a few steps across the street. The rooms also conveniently had central air so we were able to adjust to our liking. Lots of lamps though. Not actually bright. Very dim room. Had a vanity but with minimal light. Would have been great to have a stool at the vanity.

The staff was friendly, professional and diverse. For the location, the property was a fantastic value especially compared to nearby properties. Parking was easy, a good value compared to other options, and we felt very safe both in the parking garage, the walk back to the hotel, and in the hotel. I liked how everything was digital in the garage. It was easy to walk to Navy Pier. The best part was how quiet it was. You would have thought we were the only people on our floor but we knew we weren't!
